Florian Ludwig, Ph.D. (CEO)

Florian Ludwig, Ph.D. is a medical device executive with 15+ years of medical device development experience. He has held management positions along the entire  medtech development track, from early concept to competitive commercialization, working at Guidant, Abbott Vascular and Covidien, as well as in start-ups (Ventrigraft, Ventrica, ROX Medical and Direct Flow Medical). Florian holds a Diploma and a doctorate degree in physics from the Technical University of Munich, Germany, gained in research collaborations with Duke University, USA, and the University of British Columbia, Canada. He is an author on over 30 issued patents.

Daniël van Dort, MD (CSO)

Daniël van Dort, MD, is the inventor of the technology and the brain behind the product concept and its development. Daniël  is a physician in the department of cardiothoracic surgery at Radboud University Medical Center, with working experience in the operating theatre, the ward and the emergency room, and an intimate understanding of the needs of physicians treating critically ill patients.

Francien Mels (Manager, R&D)

Francien Mels has broad experience in the field of technological innovations. As a technical project manager, she has led many development projects from initial requirements to full production. Prior to joining CardiacBooster, Francien has led technology and medical device development projects at Philips, NXP and Novioscan. While at Novioscan, Francien successfully implemented and certified the company’s quality system to the ISO13485 standard, and led the CE certification process for the company’s lead product. Francien holds Electrical Engineering and Technology Management degrees from the Technical University of Eindhoven.

Federico De Marco, MD, PhD

Federico De Marco, MD, PhD is the head of the Structural Heart Disease Interventions Unit in IRCCS Policlinico San Donato in Milan (Italy). He has been trained in Interventional Cardiology at the Institut Cardiovasculaire Paris Sud in Massy, France, between 2005 and 2007, and until 2015 he worked as a senior staff interventional cardiologist at Niguarda Hospital in Milan. 

His interventional experience is extensive, spacing from complex coronary interventions to TAVR, transcatheter mitral valve repair and replacement, PFO and LAA occlusion, peripheral interventions and a wide variety of other endovascular interventions.

He has been collaborating with multiple companies since 2012, both on product design and development with engineers and on early clinical experience with various device trials and first in man procedures.

He authored and co-authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters on coronary, aortic and mitral interventions and has a strong interest in new endovascular technology.
